Choosing an apprenticeship or traineeship with CS Energy means gaining hands-on experience alongside highly skilled industry professionals while earning a nationally recognised qualification, said Kogan Creek Power Station General Manager Gavin Dann.

“Kogan Creek is the youngest coal-fired power station in Queensland, and the largest single-unit generator in Australia, so an apprenticeship with us gives people the chance to learn on one of the most advanced generation assets in Australia,” Mr Dann said.

“We’re proud to support local people to build meaningful careers in the energy industry, and we’re excited to help them develop their skills through hands-on experience and dedicated mentoring.”

Mr Fleming, an Electrotechnology Electrician/Instrumentation & Control apprentice, who went to high school in Dalby, and said he was happy to find a career path close to home.

“Being able to start my career close to home means a lot,” he said.

“The team has been really supportive. Having experienced tradespeople willing to teach you properly makes all the difference when you’re starting out.”

Ms Lane, who moved to the Western Downs from South Burnett last year, has joined as a Business Administration trainee and said she was excited to be learning about how power stations work.

“You don’t realise how much goes into running a power station until you’re here,” she said.

“I’m looking forward to the qualifications I’ll earn, and also the long-term career paths that will open up once I’ve completed my training. There are so many directions you can go.”
