Brian Gillespie

The CS Energy Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Gillespie as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 24 June 2025.

CS Energy Chair Tony Bellas said Mr Gillespie brings a wealth of executive leadership experience from a diverse career spanning the mining, transport, logistics, technology, oil and gas, and health sectors.

Most recently, Mr Gillespie served as Group Executive and President of Latin America for Orica, where he led a significant operational and cultural transformation, delivering outstanding safety, employee engagement, and financial outcomes.

“The appointment of Brian Gillespie marks a pivotal moment in CS Energy’s transformation journey. As the Board continues to deliver on its commitment to a Safer, Better CS Energy, Brian’s leadership will be instrumental in embedding a culture of operational excellence, integrity and transparency,” Mr Bellas said.

“CS Energy has faced significant challenges in recent years, including the Callide C3 and C4 incidents. In response, the Board has committed to a comprehensive cultural transformation to strengthen safety, governance, and accountability. Brian’s proven track record in leading high-risk operations with a people-first approach makes him uniquely qualified to drive this change.

“Brian’s experience in leading complex infrastructure and mining operations aligns with CS Energy’s focus on modernising its asset portfolio, improving reporting processes, and delivering on the Queensland Government’s Electricity Maintenance Guarantee.

“As CS Energy enters this next chapter, the Board looks forward to working with Brian to build a resilient, innovative, and values-driven organisation that delivers for Queensland’s communities and industries.

“The Board also extends its sincere thanks to Emma Roberts for her steady leadership as Acting CEO during a critical period for the organisation.”
