The Chinchilla Community Benefits Trust was established in 2004 during the construction of CS Energy's Kogan Creek Power Station.
Since then, it has delivered more than $1 million in funding to 115 local community projects in the Chinchilla, Kogan, and Brigalow areas.
Continuing to make a positive difference
In 2017 we were pleased to announce a 10-year extension to the program.
CS Energy and the Western Downs Regional Council are joint trustees, awarding grants to local community organisations every two years. Projects must be able to demonstrate they will enhance the economic, cultural and social development of the Chinchilla area.
Focus areas for the Trust are projects that support:
- Community infrastructure (facilities and services)
- Skills, education, training and youth development
- Safety, health and wellbeing
- Environment and sustainability.
CS Energy and Western Downs Regional Council announced the recipients of round 10 of the Chinchilla Community Benefits Trust in 2017.
Successful projects in this round were from local art, youth, business and sporting groups, and will benefit a wide range of community members in the Brigalow and Chinchilla area.
The next round of funding opens in 2019.
"We're thrilled we have a community centre and we're thrilled to bits we have a company that's been able to back us. It benefits the local community completely."
- Margaret Rogers – Kogan and District Progress Association
