Initiatives

CS Energy's key safety initiatives for 2006-07 are:

  • Target reductions in lost time injuries, medical treatment injuries, days lost and significant near miss incidents;
  • Integrate our Job Safety Environment Analysis and Permit to Work systems across all sites;
  • Implement Safe Move inspections and observations
  • Consult on and implement the Fit for Duty procedures;
  • Introduce a health program for CS Energy personnel;
  • Develop and implement an Incident Management Database;
  • Ensure all safety systems meet Australian Standard 4801 requirements;
  • Improve line manager health and safety capabilities; and
  • Implement a behavior-based safety improvement program.
Safety contacts, inspections and job observations

Safety contacts are scheduled meetings to provide feedback between workers and their managers. These one-on-one discussions focus on safety and system improvements, encouraging staff to take responsibility for general safety in their workplaces and implementing improvements. Regular site inspections and job observations help site personnel to monitor workplace conditions, safe and unsafe behaviors and the effectiveness of company procedures and specific safety initiatives.
