Callide Power Station

Callide Power Station Callide Power Station provides electricity to the national electricity market from Biloela in central Queensland.

The site comprises Callide A and B stations, and the Callide Power Plant (Callide C).  Together they can generate up to 1,720 megawatts of electricity, which is enough to power about 2 million homes.

Originally built in 1965, Callide A station was refurbished in 1998 and is currently in storage, awaiting future use in the Callide Oxyfuel Project.

Callide B was commissioned in 1988 and at one time held the Queensland record for operation, running continuously for 477 days.  The 900MW Callide Power Plant commissioned in 2001 doubled the site’s capacity and was a joint venture between CS Energy and InterGen.
