Swanbank F Power Project

CS Energy is planning a new gas-fired power station for its Swanbank Power Station complex at Ipswich. The Swanbank F Power Project will be the second gas-fired station on the site, joining the 385 MW Swanbank E commissioned in 2002.

Future demand

Forecasts indicate Queensland's average electricity demand will grow by over 200 MW a year during the next five years, and peak demand by over 400 MW a year. South-east Queensland is one of the fastest growing regions in the state and Swanbank is well positioned to support this growth.

Technology

Swanbank F will be a high efficiency combined cycle gas-fired plant with a low greenhouse intensity. CS Energy is also working to ensure Swanbank F is a highly water efficient plant. It will have a capacity of between 400 and 500 MW and when complete, will provide enough electricity to power approximately 300,000 homes.

Status

CS Energy is completing technical and economic feasibility work for Swanbank F. The Company is also providing information to the local community about the proposed power station. It is anticipated that Swanbank F would become operational by the summer of 2011/2012.
