Gas fired power stations have a lower CO2 emissions ratio than coal fired power stations. CS Energy uses gas to generate electricity at its Mica Creek and Swanbank E Power Stations.

As Queensland's largest gas user, CS Energy sources conventional gas and coal seam methane from a number of gas suppliers. We have long term agreements with:

CS Energy has also bought gas on a spot basis from Tipperary Oil & Gas, Origin CSG Marketing and Energex. This gas is delivered into the Australian Pipeline Trust's Roma to Brisbane Pipeline for use at Swanbank E.

Australian Pipeline Trust (APT) has been transporting gas to the Mica Creek and Swanbank E Power Stations since they were commissioned.
