Land management

Land management

Careful management of our working environments and their surrounds is one of our highest priorities. Our power station sites provide habitats for a variety of wildlife and the evaporation ponds and surrounding buffer zones provide a safe haven for a variety of species including koalas, echidnas and kangaroos.

We work closely with local landcare and wildlife groups to protect any flora and fauna on our sites, and employ a range of initiatives and practices of our own to ensure the preservation of our surrounding environment, such as weed and pest control management.

Mine rehabilitation

At Kogan Creek Power Station, we pipe waste ash from the electricity generation process to the nearby Kogan Mine site, where it is used to fill a specially designed ash cell in old mine voids. Once the ash cell is full, it will be capped with mine spoil, progressively rehabilitated with top soil and then revegetated.
