Climate change
The challenge of responding to climate change is the biggest issue facing the energy industry today.
Currently over 80% of the world's power generation comes from fossil fuels, and as countries develop and populations grow the global demand for energy will continue to rise at a rapid pace.
At the same time the scientific community is telling us that the world needs to cut the levels of carbon emissions associated with human activities if we hope to reduce the effects of climate change.
In response, we’ve developed a Carbon Management Plan to significantly reduce the greenhouse emissions of our operations. Initiatives in the plan include our involvement in the Callide Oxyfuel Project, research into renewables, improving the efficiency of our existing plant and carbon offset projects.
