Generator Restructure
On 1 July 2011, the restructure of Queensland's government owned electricity generating companies came into effect. CS Energy, Tarong Energy Corporation and Stanwell Corporation were restructured and merged into two companies - CS Energy and Stanwell Corporation.
Why restructure?
The restructure followed the Queensland Government's review of the government-owned electricity generators to improve their competitiveness. To find out more about the government's Generator Review and its findings, visit the Office of Government Owned Corporations website.
How has CS Energy changed?
The Queensland Government split the power station assets of the three companies between the portfolios of CS Energy and Stanwell. The table below summarises CS Energy's portfolio of assets before and after the restructure.

The Glen Wilga and Haystack Road undeveloped coal resources near Chinchilla were also transferred to CS Energy on 1 July 2011.
How did this affect our people?
Because our asset portfolio changed, our workforce changed. We consulted with our employees, unions and the Queensland Government as we devised an equitable process for transferring employees between CS Energy and Stanwell, depending on which power station asset they worked at and their skills and expertise.
We also conducted an internal restructure to ensure our business was ready to operate its new asset portfolio in the changed market environment. We maintained our policy of no forced redundancies and provided regular communications to our people as we finalised our new organisational structure.
Our new organisational structure, including a new Board and management team, is now in place. Visit the Our People section of this website to find out more.
