Managing asbestos
Sections of our Swanbank, Callide and Mica Creek power stations were built at a time when asbestos was a commonly used building material. To control the risks from asbestos and comply with relevant legislation, we have an Asbestos Management Plan in place.
CS Energy’s long term goal is to have an asbestos-free workplace. We remove as much asbestos as possible during overhauls, adhering to guidelines under the Workplace Health and Safety Act (1995).
Relevant training is provided for people who remove asbestos at our power stations and for those who work in sections of plant where asbestos is present.
We have also registered the location of all asbestos and monitor its status at all of our sites.
